‘Just to be warm’ – Nikola Jokic explains why he stood the entire 4th quarter of Game 6

Jokic said he was standing the entire 4th quarter because he wanted to stay fit to lift after the game. He’s averaging 24 points, 16 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game in Game 7s in his career.

As the Denver Nuggets were losing by 40+ points, Nikola Jokic stood near the team’s bench throughout the entire fourth quarter. He later explained why.

“Actually, we had them, [it was] like a 9-2 score, right? Didn’t look good for them in that period,” Jokic joked during the post-game press conference. However, another episode caught the eye of the fans in attendance in Game 6.

Jokic stood near the Nuggets bench during the entire fourth quarter, visibly unhappy with how the game had unfolded. Asked about it, the Serbian big man nodded his head and provided an explanation.

“Just to be warm so I can lift after,” he said.

On Sunday, May 19, the Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves will play Game 7. There is no word yet on the precise commencement time.
