Steph Curry will receive the Charlie Sifford Award in Pinehurst during the World Golf Hall of Fame inaugural tournament.
Apart from the several basketball accolades he has garnered, Steph Curry has amassed a significant collection of golfing memorabilia.
Curry would be receiving the Charlie Sifford Award in June of the following year, when his admittance into the World Golf Hall of Fame, Tuesday announced. This award honours those who have “above and beyond” to progress golf’s equality.
The Pinehurst Resort & Country Club hall opening ceremony is about here.
Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2024 will be seven of the original thirteen founders of the Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association (LPGA), Padraig Harrington, Tom Weiskopf, Sandra Palmer, John F. Reel, and Beverly Hanson.
Curry said, “I am immensely honoured to be the recipient of this year’s Charlie Sifförd Award. Thank you the World Golf Hall of Fame for the recognition in this sport that I am so passionate about.” “We have the chance to expand the game of golf by giving young golfers who have that same passion, dedication, and determination as so many of us out here on the green equity, access, and opportunity,” a player once said on the course.
After six years of promising to completely sponsor both men’s and women’s golf at Howard University, Curry will be honored in 2023 with the Ambassador of Golf Award for his advocacy work on the PGA Tour.
There were no Black golfers in the 2017 U.S. Open field, and Black golfers make up fewer than 2% of the sport’s overall participation.
Greg McLaughlin, CEO of the World Golf Hall of Fame, said that Curry “has shown passion and a commitment to giving more opportunities to young people who do not have access to the game of golf.” Steph’s dedication to broadening golf’s appeal is representative of champions like Charley Sifford. The World Golf Hall of Fame is committed to continuing Southern Company’s legacy for future generations by recognizing those “cоmmitted tо mаking gоlf an envirоnment fоr аll,” such as Steph.
