After a somewhat dull offseason debut, the Milwaukee Bucks are strengthening the roster through free agency. NBA analyst Shams Charania said on Wednesday that Taurean Prince, a veteran forward, is expected to sign with the Bucks.
Prince, 30, played for the Los Angeles Lakers for the previous season. In 78 games, he averaged 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and a 39.6% three-point shooting percentage. He will get back together with former Lakers head coach Darvin Ham, who left Los Angeles earlier this offseason to become an assistant coach with the Bucks.
With only mid-level exceptions available to them going into the offseason, Milwaukee began the NBA’s free agency period cash strapped and hasn’t been particularly active. They apparently consented to bring in guard Delon Wright, who will now be joined by Prince as a new member of the team.
The conditions of Prince’s agreement with the franchise are currently unknown.
Following a dismal playoff exit, the Bucks will aim to redeem themselves and show that they can contend for a title with their current lineup, which is led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Prince will contribute with some outside scoring and strong wing two-way play.
The Bucks will be Prince’s sixth team in his upcoming ninth season of professional basketball. He has previously played for the Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Brooklyn Nets, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
