Serbia were up since the start of the game and maintained the lead throughout the entire game. Led by Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic, Serbia blew out Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Greece 94-72 (26-21, 22-18, 24-19, 22-14).
Jokic finished the game with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists for 29 PIR.
Bogdan Bogdanovic, meanwhile, led all players in scoring with 19 points in his account on 7-for-11 shooting, making all five of his triples.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists for 21 PIR. Kostas Papanikolaou was the only other Greek player with a double-digit scoring outcome.
Serbia came out hot, leading 19-11 in the middle of the first quarter. While Greece managed to cut the deficit to five points to end the period (26-21), the hosts maintained their control of the game.
Greece’s attempts to narrow the deficit to fewer than 4 points were met with Serbia’s almost immediate runs.
The narrative carried over into the second half as Serbia dominated the first half with a double-digit lead. Greece was ultimately forced to concede as the hosts’ margin grew to 20 points.
It was the last friendly game for both teams before they headed to Paris to play in the Olympics.
Serbia will play in Group C alongside Team USA, Puerto Rico, and South Sudan in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The other participants in Group A are Greece, Australia, Spain, and Canada.
