Vinicius Junior, the Real Madrid striker, appears on the cover of this month’s issue of GQ Brasil. The athlete talks about his career expectations and his plans off the pitch.
At the Spanish club since 2018, the player has been having a good season this year. He has scored 22 goals, one of which came in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
Pressure is not a problem for him. The striker understands that it helps him focus on the pitch, which is a positive thing in European football. “And there is one thing: if there is pressure, it is a sign that you can give more,” he explains.
Despite his good form, Vini Jr. believes that he has more to go to surpass the likes of Benzema and Mbappé, who scored 40 goals last season.
“For the level of football today, I need to do more. To be in that position [with Benzema and Mbappé], you have to be very involved in the game, whether it’s scoring or assisting,” he said.
In addition to his goal of finishing sixth for Brazil, the striker wants to do more for his country. He currently has a social institute in Rio de Janeiro, but he also has his sights set on building a school.
“Brazil is very good at training football players. There is a player everywhere. What we need is to train more doctors, more teachers,” he told the magazine.
