After Erik ten Hag’s appointment as Manchester United’s manager for the upcoming campaign was confirmed, Marcus Rashford pledged to mend his damaged friendship with the Dutchman.
Marcus Rashford has vowed to repair his fractured relationship with Erik ten Hag
Ten Hag will remain as Manchester United manager ahead of next season
The timid striker managed just eight goals for the Red Devils in the previous campaign and had a number of unimpressive games.
In addition, he infuriated his management by going out to parties twice: first following a devastating loss to Manchester City in the derby and again preceding an important FA Cup match against Newport with a two-day binge in Belfast.
Before video showing him leaving a nightclub in the wee hours of the morning surfaced, he called in ill for training.
Due to his actions, the celebrity was fined two weeks’ worth of his £350,000 salary.
Gareth Southgate left Rashford “stunneŀ” from his tentative 33-man Euro 2024 squad because of his bad form, a source said.
Rashford, who scored 30 goals in the 2022–2023 season, has found new life as a result of the transfer and the news that Ten Hag will continue to be in charge at Old Trafford.
“Marcus was really shocked to not even make the 33, but he knew his place in Gareth’s Euros squad was at rιsk because he has struggled this season,” the insider stated.
“He believed he had sufficient bank credit.”
Following his exclusion, Rashford declared he was taking a vacation from social media and taking aim at his detractors.
“It is time to come off socials for a few weeks,” he tweeted. I want to take some time to recover psychologically from a trying season, both personally and as a group.
“I want to thank all of my fans for supporting me during a trying time. For those who weren’t, always keep in mind that at United, we never separate.
Rashford has now become more diligent in training to get the best start with Man Utd
The source added that Rashford was pleased ten Hag was staying at Old Trafford – despite the pair barely being on speaking terms at times during a difficult campaign.
“Marcus knows one thing with ten Hag and that is that he really rates him. He knows he’s underperformed big time but has been telling his friends that he’s coming back strong this next season.
“He knows a new manager could have come in and got rid of him. He doesn’t want to go anywhere and wants to get back to his best.”
