Despite several transfer speculations suggesting interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen player Jeremie Frimpong this summer, Frimpong has been spotted wearing an Arsenal shirt.
The Netherlands international was on fire for Leverkusen last season as they won the Bundesliga for the first time ever and went undefeated in Germany the whole time.
For Xabi Alonso’s team, Frimpong’s skill on the right side was essential. The 23-year-old was a consistent assist provider and even contributed a noteworthy 14 goals in all competitions while playing as a wing-back.
It comes as no surprise that Fabrizio Romano informed us that major league teams like Arsenal have been scouting Frimpong. More recently, Sport Bild reported that Liverpool was reportedly interested in him.
Frimpong, though, may have revealed his affiliation now that he’s been spotted wearing Arsenal’s new 2024–2025 uniform.
Of course, this could all be completely innocent—Frimpong might have grabbed this shirt as a memento during Leverkusen’s recent trip to North London to play Mikel Arteta’s team in the Emirates Cup.
Given how well Leverkusen is doing under Alonso, it is unclear if Frimpong will truly depart the team this summer.
Of course, it would be difficult for any player to turn down the opportunity to play in the Premier League and live in London with a renowned club like Arsenal, but nothing appears especially imminent on this one, based on the paucity of recent reports.
Even though Frimpong obviously still has a soft spot for Arsenal, Liverpool has been connected more recently and could be able to entice him to join them.
Right now, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the Reds’ first choice right-back; however, he is nearing the end of his contract and has occasionally been played in midfield, which may indicate that midfield is his long-term position.
