Arsenal is reportedly once again interested in Victor Osimhen.
Before the transfer market closes on Friday, the Gunners are being pushed to recruit a new striker. Although they already have Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, many believe that won’t be enough to beat Manchester City.
Benjamin Sesko turned down offers from Arsenal to sign with him. Since then, they have been associated with numerous names, Osimhen among them.
If Arsenal is unable to get the Napoli star, Shaka Hislop has suggested to them on ESPN FC who they could sign instead.
If Victor Osimhen rejects Arsenal, an ESPN commentator advises them to sign Ivan Toney.
Arsenal defeated Wolves to kick off the season in spectacular fashion.
That afternoon, Havertz led the line, and with a masterful performance, he silenced all his doubters. He first assisted Bukayo Saka in scoring the first goal.
Havertz is obviously talented enough, in Arteta’s opinion, to be Arsenal’s striker, and Jesus can also deliver the goods.
But according to Hislop, all Arsenal needs to do to win the Premier League is get a new number nine this summer. Osimhen, in his opinion, is the greatest choice.
He has advised the Gunners to pursue Ivan Toney, a player that Darren Bent has called “unbelievable,” if they are unable to acquire the Nigerian (talkSPORT, 5/8/2024, 6:44 pm).
“Listen, money aside, I think the best striker out there who’s available is Victor Osimhen,” he stated, assuming Arsenal could sign him. I am aware that, based on all accounts, he is looking to move on. Alright, then, certainly, Ivan Toney, if he’s not available!
You go for him, in my opinion. Arsenal, in my opinion, is in dire need of such striker right now. Once more, Ivan Toney is already in London, and in my opinion, he fulfils a lot of requirements for both the club and the player.
“Are you able to match the potential financial offer from Saudi Arabia? Not at all! However, I believe you need to make a statement. Toney aspires to remain a factor in the England team and its surroundings. I believe he will eventually get the chance to make that move.
“If I were Arsenal, I would be doing everything in my power to persuade him to come to North London rather than travel to the Middle East.”
How much will Arsenal have to pay for Osimhen and Toney?David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori were previously purchased by Arsenal for hefty sums of money, and Mikel Merino, should he be signed, will also cost a respectable sum.
However, Eddie Nketiah is about to leave Arsenal for Nottingham Forest, and the Gunners have already raised money through Emile Smith Rowe.
Osimhen might still be a little too expensive, even though Arsenal might have the funds necessary to make a significant deal. Napoli reportedly wants to pay him at least €100 million (£85 million), according to Corriere dello Sport.
However, Toney could be acquired by Arsenal for a mere £30 million.
Whether Arteta and Edu pursue either player before the summer transfer market closes on Friday of next week is still to be seen.
