A knock on the right knee sustained by Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber during the second half of the team’s 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion gave the visitors a scare. In the eightieth minute, they had to take him off.
When questioned about his absence, the manager, Mikel Arteta, clarified that the Dutch star had not damaged himself, but fans were still concerned because he had been struggling to keep fit.
Timber was sidelined for the remainder of the preseason due to a foot issue and a load-bearing ailment. He didn’t take the pitch against Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen, or Liverpool.
On the opening day of the 2024–25 Premier League season, however, the Arsenal player returned to action, substituting in a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
They defeated Aston Villa 2-0 the previous Saturday, and as a result of his excellent performance at Villa Park, he was given another start against Brighton.
In the final ten minutes of the match against Brighton, Oleksandr Zinchenko took Timber’s place. But he’s back to full health today, and he can’t wait to prove it against Germany on September 10 and Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 7.
Due to an ACL injury, this 23-year-old player missed nearly the whole previous campaign. After missing the most of his debut season with the Gunners, he is now returning to prove himself.
