‘I have all the information’ – Mikel Arteta fires back in ‘dark arts’ row and reveals he knows what really goes on at Man City

Arteta provided an update on the injured players for Arsenal.

Mikkel Arteta retaliated at the whiny stars of Manchester City by saying, “I know all about your own dirty habits.”

Following Arsenal’s 2-2 tie with Arteta, the team was accused of employing “dark arts,” and the fallout from that tense match at the Etihad Stadium is still being felt.Mikel Arteta has suggested that Man City are also guilty of football's 'dark arts'Mikel Arteta has suggested that Man City are also guilty of football’s ‘dark arts’.Arsenal and Man City players clashed after the match at the Etihad StadiumArsenal and Man City players clashed after the match at the Etihad Stadium.

While the ten-man Gunners attempted in vain to hang on to a 2-1 advantage, City manager Pep Guardiola and many players expressed their displeasure about time theft.

The manager of Emirates, Arteta, was not having any of it, implying that Guardiola’s team has always been willing to break the regulations on the pitch.

He said: “I was there for four years. I have all the information. So I know, believe me.”

The Spaniard, however, is unable to dispute that Arsenal and Aston Villa are tied for first place in the Premier League’s time-league for 2024–25 in terms of extending delays to an average of 33.5 seconds.

But he countered that City, who have become known for Guardiola’s reliance on “tactical” fouls, had acted in a similar manner.

That was the moment in the first half when Mateo Kovacic replaced Rodri after he was hurt, briefly bringing them down to ten men.

“We did what every team does,” Arteta remarked.

“They used ten and played for thirty seconds. Take a look at what they accomplished. What they did was typical. We had to approach it differently.

His teammates were put in a difficult situation when Leandro Trossard was carded for kicking the ball away during first-half stoppage time.

Arteta was Pep Guardiola's assistant between 2016 and 2019

He should do as he was Guardiola’s coach then No .2 from 2016 to 2019, when he became Gunners chief.

Granit Xhaka was sent off early in an Arsenal match against City in 2021, so it wasn’t the first time the team had experienced this.

After Trossard lost his cool, Arteta closed his business without offering an apology.

“We learnt from the past,” he remarked. If not, I would be really thick.

Sadly, we’ve encountered this circumstance several times. Granit put us in that predicament, and we lost 5-0.

In the second half, four Arsenal players needed extensive treatment, which inflamed the crowd.

Although Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber, and Gabriel Martinelli were all substituted, David Raya was still able to finish the match. Fans of Angry City were certain that they were acting, but Arteta responded.

“I always prefer the facts over words or suppositions,” he snapped. We can discuss dark arts and whether they are genuine after we see who is accessible.

“Unfortunately, a few players are no longer available.”

The four are most definitely not going to play in the Carabao Cup match against Bolton at home.

As Neto is cup-tied from playing for Bournemouth in the previous round, 16-year-old Jack Porter may have to take Raya’s place, who was spotted hobbling out of the Etihad with a taped-up leg.

Because of a knee injury he sustained earlier in the month, Arteta is already without its captain, Martin Odegaard.

“I think it’s unlikely Martin will be back before the inter-national break,” he continued, “but we might get a surprise.”

Ben White is doubtful, Mikel Merino, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all out, and Trossard is suspended.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, a midfielder, is expected to play after making an impact as a substitute on Sunday. The same holds true for Ethan Nwaneri, a 17-year-old who made his debut in the team’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham the week before.

Arteta said: “I’m really proud of them.

“They had the chance to play in two of the most difficult grounds in the Premier League and both responded really well.”
