After Real Madrid’s captain for the evening, Aurelien Tchouameni, was given a second yellow card in the 76th minute, France prevailed against Belgium in the UEFA Nations League for the second time. 

In the UEFA Nations League, Randal Kolo Muani of PSG scored a brace to help France defeat Belgium by a score of two goals to one. 

This indicates that, having defeated the ‘Red Devils’ 2-0 in the rematch, they have now defeated them twice in the Nations League. 

After Belgium captain Youri Tielemans missed a penalty kick to give his team the lead, Kolo Muani opened the score in the 35th minute. 

Just before halftime, Lois Openda gave the home team an equalizer, but Kolo Muani’s header in the 62nd minute gave France the victory and all three points. 

Belgium maintains third place in Group A2 with five points less than tonight’s opponents, while France remains second with nine points. 

Italy leads Group A2 after defeating bottom-ranked Israel 4-1 tonight to maintain their perfect record in the Nations League. 

The Match Story

After the Belgian pressed the throttle to break down the right, Aston Villa left back Lucas Digne was duped into dangling his left foot in to foul Jeremy Doku. After receiving a yellow card, Digne will be ineligible to play for France against Israel in their upcoming Nations League match.

Throughout the first ten minutes, Doku was genuinely giving Digne trouble along the right side. For Belgium, everything was going according to plan.

The home team had a wonderful opportunity in the twelfth minute. Lois Openda, a striker for RB Leipizig, ran to get on the end of a whipped ball supplied by Belgium’s captain Youri Tielemans, but his first-time volleyed attempt missed the right post.

Lois Openda scored 24 goals for Leipzig in the previous campaign, his first in the German league. This season, he has started all six games and scored four goals in the league.

In the seventeenth minute, Leandro Trossard forced Mike Maignan to make a vital save. After Timothy Castagne of Fulham wrested the ball from Ibrahima Konate, Trossard attempted to run with it from his own half but was unsuccessful. 

Belgium dominated the first 20 minutes and earned their reward after a penalty was called against them.

Unfortunately for Openda, Arsenal center-back William Saliba slipped under him, sending the defender sprawling to the ground. After reviewing the footage, VAR decided to give the home team the penalty.

When Tielemans attempted to take the ball, he blasted it over the crossbar. He went too far beneath it while searching for that upper left corner. All he could do was watch his ball come sailing onto the track.
