Though Youri Tielemans of Aston Villa missed the penalty, Saliba attempted to close down Lois Openda inside the box but stumbled and pulled down the Belgium striker.

Saliba played Openda onside, which caused fans to see he was even at fault in the build-up. He also failed to wrap himself in glory right before halftime.

As the center-back attempted to initiate a deep run, he was caught in possession and lost sight of Openda, who managed to enter unmarked.

The 23-year-old received swift criticism from fans, with one comment reading, “Saliba disasterclass.”Another said, “He let him onside and conceded the pen what a horror show.”

Saliba had an excellent start to the season for Arsenal, and Real Madrid reportedly dispatched scouts to watch him.

And after seeing him show flaws that the Premier League hardly ever sees, Gunners supporters were left hoping they had watched his performance against Belgium.”Saliba playing like s**t on the world stage means Madrid won’t come in for him,” one Arsenal fan commented.Another stated: “Saliba is such a real one for putting up this stinker to ward off Real Madrid’s scouts ️”

Despite having Aurelien Tchouameni sent off 15 minutes from time, Saliba played well after the break and helped France win 2-1.
