The Spanish Royal team on October 15 posted a photo of an advertising campaign featuring former defender Roberto Carlos and midfielder Jude Bellingham around a chair but with one standing position seemingly empty.

At the same time, star Bellingham posted a similar photo on Instagram, with Mbappe in that empty position. The English midfielder deleted the photo shortly after, but fans were still quick to spot the anomaly.

Spanish investigative journalist Romain Molina said that the reason Mbappe’s photo was deleted was because Real Madrid’s leadership was likely discussing the French star’s rape allegation during his two-day stay in Sweden.

Due to injury, Mbappe was dropped from the French squad for two UEFA Nations League matches in October, and went to Stockholm to party with teammate Nordi Mukiele and friends. The Real Madrid striker left Stockholm on the afternoon of October 11 on a private jet.

According to Swedish media, a rape occurred at the hotel where Mbappe stayed on the afternoon of October 10. The victim reported the incident to the police and on October 15, Aftonbladet revealed that the victim had accused Mbappe of being the perpetrator. The police showed up at the hotel where Mbappe and his friends were staying and he is under suspicion.

Mbappe and his lawyer both confirmed that the information was fabricated, and the striker even hinted that PSG was ‘directing’ it when the trial between him and his former team was about to take place.

PSG confirmed to L’Équipe (France) that they had nothing to do with Mbappe’s case. The French team’s representative also sarcastically said that Mbappe had not done anything for Real Madrid but had already caused trouble.

Spanish media reported that the striker born in 1998 has now returned to join Real Madrid but may still have to answer questions online from the police.

According to Swedish lawyer Dahlrot Cabouillet, rape cases will be strictly handled in this country.

“If there is no evidence that the victim agreed to sex by words or certain gestures, or that the perpetrator was under the influence of alcohol or stimulants, this can be considered rape and Mbappe risks being convicted,” French newspaper Le Parisien quoted lawyer Cabouillet as saying.
