The company cars that Bayern Munich’s stars chose have been made public. Harry Kane chose a better model than he did last season.
Every year, Bayern’s players get to choose a car from Audi’s lineup as a gift from the company. This year, the players could choose from a variety of electric cars.
Kane, the leader of England, bought a $58,000 car last year, just a few days after moving from Tottenham to England for £100 million.
This time, he chose an Audi SQ8 SUV e-tron2, which costs €98,000 (£82,000).
That turned out to be a popular choice. Manager Vincent Kompany, Eric Dier, Manuel Neuer, and Joshua Kimmich for Germany all went with it.
It wasn’t the most pricey car, though. Four of Kane’s teammates—Thomas Muller, Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka, and Raphael Guerreiro—bought the €145,000 (£121,000) RS e-tron GT in Nimbus Grey.
Also, rising star Jamal Musiala chose a Q6 e-tron in Mythos Black Metallic, which costs £50,000.
The players and coaches from Bayern took a group picture at the Audi garage while having fun on a day trip just a few weeks into the new season.
They were also seen happy as the keys to their new cars were given to them.
CEO Michael Diederich said this about the players getting their own electric car: “Sustainability is important to us at FC Bayern, and as a club with our millions of fans around the world, we want to set a positive example when it comes to electromobility.”
The players seem to be happy off the field, and they’ve had a good start to the season with new boss Kompany on the field as well.
Bayern is currently in first place in the Bundesliga. They have won all six of their games so far and have a goal difference of +13.
Kane has been a big part of their success. In six league games, he has scored five goals and set up six others.
He also scored four goals when Real Madrid beat Dinamo Zagreb 9–2 in the Champions League last month.
But Bayern did lose their second European game, 1-0 to Aston Villa. It was their first big loss with Kompany in charge.
The German giants play again this Saturday when they host Stuttgart. Their third Champions League game is next Wednesday when they go to Barcelona.
