In another catch, FOOTIE star Phil Foden brings in a huge carp while fishing.
The 24-year-old star player for Man City and England was thrilled to catch the 28-pound monster at a pond near Lechlade, Gloucestershire.
During a TikTok video, he bragged to Phil and Neil Spooner, host of ITV4’s Monster Carp: “It’s a big one!”
The midfielder played in City’s win yesterday. He loves fishing and wants to quit football and become a fisherman when he quits.
Foden took a fishing trip on the edge of the Cotswolds for £14 a day after the Euros.
The Man City star, who makes £200,000 a week, turned down trips to faraway places that his England teammates like to go in order to spend five days fishing with his dad for carp, catfish, tench, pike, and perch.
Someone who was at Linear Fisheries in Witney, Oxfordshire, said, “Phil was as happy as Larry with his cheap tent camping trip.”
“He was so down-to-earth, and he was determined to catch a huge carp from the lake.
“While his English friends were having a great time in fancy hotels right next to the beach, Phil’s vacation was the least fancy thing he had: a Portaloo.”
Foden was taking it easy after the Euros because he was about to join the City team to get ready for the new season.
He loves fishing and has written about the big fish he has caught on Instagram.
Foden started fishing with his dad, Phil Senior, when he was a kid. He has said before, “Fishing is a great way to relax and take a break.”
“I think about 95% of the football boys don’t like it.”
People say, “What a weird sport to enjoy” when they hear that one of you likes fishing.
“They don’t get why you like it.”
“It’s clear that they should try it.”
“That seems like a great hobby to take a break and rest your legs.”
Some of Foden’s best catches from trips to lakes in the UK and Spain have been shared on social media. Spain is where he caught his biggest fish to date, a 130-pound catfish.
