14 PASSES, 1/4 CROSSES: Arteta needs to drop 23y/o star who lost the ball 18 times vs Liverpool

Arsenal’s 2-2 tie with Liverpool on Sunday night prevented them from getting back to winning ways in the Premier League.

For the league match, the Gunners were missing a number of important players, including Riccardo Calafiori, William Saliba, and Martin Odegaard.

Even though Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhaes were both hurt in the second half, Arsenal will still be unhappy with the outcome.

The team had a 2-1 lead until a defensive blunder in the 81st minute gave Mohamed Salah the opportunity to score a vital equalizer for the Reds.

On the plus side, Bukayo Saka scored an early goal to make a flawless comeback from injury.

Right-back Thomas Partey was outstanding, and Mikel Merino and Declan Rice also made significant midfield contributions.

But Gabriel Martinelli was a particular disappointment for the Gunners.

The Brazil international beat Trent Alexander-Arnold a couple of times, but both his final product and his crossing were subpar.

On a different day, the 23-year-old may have received a penalty for one of his significant moments in the box.

Martinelli recorded 14 passes overall, with a 61% passing accuracy rate. He only finished one out of every four crosses and lost possession eighteen times.

In comparison to Martinelli’s high expectations, the performance was especially dismal. If he gets placed on the bench anytime soon, we won’t be shocked.

Raheem Sterling may start on the left wing in the forthcoming League Cup match since he has performed well when he has entered the game for the Gunners.

On Wednesday night, Arsenal will travel to Preston North End for their Carabao Cup fourth-round match.

Sterling’s strong performance might persuade manager Mikel Arteta to use him more. Martinelli, in our opinion, cannot take his position for granted.
