Liverpool won a dramatic 3-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the League Cup round of 16 – a match that witnessed a tense score chase.

Liverpool and Brighton both entered the match with high determination. Although there were no goals in the first half, the match had many dangerous and tense situations.

The Kop made the most of their chances as the second half began. Cody Gakpo opened the scoring with a powerful shot into the top corner to put Liverpool ahead. Just minutes later, Gakpo completed his double with a decisive finish , making it 2-0 and giving the visitors control of most of the game.

Not easily accepting defeat, Brighton quickly responded with a goal from Simon Adingra to reduce the gap in the 81st minute. Immediately after that, Liverpool continued to maintain the pressure and quickly scored another goal thanks to Luis Diaz – a striker with an extremely high scoring efficiency – in the 85th minute, raising the score to 3-1 and seemingly deciding the outcome of the match.

In the 90th minute, Tariq Lamptey created a surprise with a shot from outside the penalty area, the ball went straight into the bottom corner of Liverpool’s goal, reducing the score to 2-3. This goal not only rekindled hope for Brighton but also put great pressure on Liverpool’s defense in the extra minutes. However, despite Brighton’s continuous pressure, the Reds still maintained the victory, thereby registering their name in the League Cup quarter-finals .
