According to sources, Arsenal will make every effort to acquire Alexander Isak from Premier League rivals Newcastle United as soon as feasible.
With Mikel Arteta and Edu working hard to recruit Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, it was anticipated that the Gunners will spend money on a new striker during the summer transfer window.
Sesko, 21, made the decision to remain and sign a new deal with Leipzig, and Arsenal spent the remainder of the summer transfer season without adding a striker.
Arteta can now permanently utilize Kai Havertz as a striker with Gabriel Jesus as his partner or understudy, thanks to Mikel Merino’s addition to the midfield. Leandro Trossard has also been tried up front.
Despite going scoreless in a 1-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday, Arteta’s team has scored 17 Premier League goals in 10 games, so they are not exactly having a hard time scoring this season.
However, there have long been allegations that they don’t have a clinical center-forward who can help them win games and score goals that are vital in a championship contest.
Isak, a striker for Newcastle, has been frequently linked lately. On Saturday, the Magpies defeated Arteta’s team, and the Sweden international scored the game’s lone goal.
The Spanish manager is asking that Arsenal make a “galactic signing” of Newcastle’s Isak as soon as possible, according to reports in Spain that say Arsenal “will go all out for Arteta.”
According to the article, Arteta is “determined to take Arsenal’s attack to the next level,” and Alexander Isak is his top target.
The striker is reportedly being offered by Arsenal for more than 120 million euros, which is more than the 116.6 million they paid for [Declan] Rice.
An offer of this size might persuade the Newcastle board to consider selling its star player, even though they have been hesitant to do so. Isak leaving would provide a big obstacle for Newcastle, though, as they would need to find a worthy replacement to stay competitive in the league.
After their loss to Newcastle, Arteta was questioned if his team was missing a center-forward like Isak. He said, “I don’t know.” I wouldn’t trade my players for anyone else since I adore them.
On not taking their chances, Arteta added: “Obviously when you create three big chances in the game you’re hoping to score a goal because this is the fine margins we’re always discussing, but I think the team should have generated more and that’s my responsibility.”
