Ronald Araujo is being watched by Manchester United, and Barcelona is “listening to offers” for the defender.
Since making his Barcelona debut in the 2019–20 season, Araujo has played in almost 150 games and developed into a key player of the team.
However, given the fallout from Araujo’s red card in the heartbreaking Champions League quarterfinal loss to Paris Saint-Germain, it appears that La Liga is thinking about letting him go.
The 25-year-old received a straight red card after fouling Bradley Barcola in the first half of the second game.
Barca looked destined for a semi-final spot at the moment, leading 1-0 on the evening and 4-2 overall.
But the Parisians scored four goals to advance, and the red handed PSG the lead.
According to reports, the Barca dressing room was “split into four clans” after Ilkay Gundogan publicly criticized Araujo.
Additionally, Xavi’s team “will listen to offers” for the Uruguayan center back, according to the Spanish newspaper Sport.
It’s no secret that Barcelona, who never seems to have enough money, will need to sell a player this summer to make ends meet.
The study indicates that Araujo is one of the players whose sales have the potential to generate more revenues.
Barca is confident they might receive an offer of up to £86 million given United’s interest.
The Red Devils have long admired Araujo and are thought to be the first team to sign him if he were available for transfer.
Given the emergence of 17-year-old Pau Cubarsi, Barca is certain they have adequate defensive cover in the event he departs.
There could be a significant profit for the Catalan powerhouses, considering that Araujo paid £1.4 million to join the Blaugrana in 2018.
