MEANINGFUL JOURNEY: Jurrien Timber Travels to Rwanda to Inspire Communities as an Arsenal Ambassador 🌍

This Thursday, December 14, 2023, marked the beginning of Jurrien Timber’s journey to Rwanda.

The Arsenal player, who landed in Rwanda early Thursday morning, was supposed to start the three-day trip with an infrastructure visit.

“It is wonderful to be in Rwanda.” I’m having a great time here. Everyone appears to be smiling and the individuals are loving. While watching young football players at a playground close to Kigali Pele Stadium, Timber said, “I have heard a lot of positive things about Rwanda, and my experience so far has lived up to those expectations.”

Timber paid his homage to the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi at the Genocide Memorial Centre on his first day in Rwanda.

“Knowing Rwanda’s history and what transpired here is crucial. I am grateful for the current state of calm in the nation,” he remarked.

The 22-year-old spent some time talking to young football players and told them a little bit about himself.

Timber thanked Rwandans for their fervent support of Arsenal and praised the “Visit Rwanda” initiative.

“People here really support Arsenal; I’ve seen a lot of Arsenal shirts on the streets,” he remarked.

As the first Sleeve Sponsor and Official Tourism Partner of Arsenal FC, Timber’s trip is a component of Visit Rwanda’s collaboration with the team.

He began his tour of the facilities by going to the Peace Stadium, which can hold 40,000 people and is now undergoing renovations to accommodate 25,000.

The defender then went to see the AS Kigali youth team, which consists of youngsters under the age of twenty.

While the players were practicing and working on the field at the Kigali Pele Stadium (previously Tapis Rouge in Nyamirambo), he paid them a visit.


22-year-old Jurrien Timber also went to Gisozi’s Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Timber bowed to the innocent people buried at the Kigali Genocide Memorial after learning about the history of the nation and its construction.

He told Timber the history of how the Genocide Plot was conceived and executed while he showed him portions of the Kigali Memorial. The defender also used the occasion to meet Rwandan Arsenal supporters who are members of the Arsenal Fight Arsenal Fan Community.
