Jude Bellingham’s response to Carlo Ancelotti benching him early in Real Madrid’s Champions League loss to AC Milan (3-1) has been quite telling.
Tuesday night saw the Champions League’s return after a week-long hiatus, with a number of Europe’s best clubs competing in the fourth matchday under the new format.
After losing 4-0 to Barcelona in El Classico last month, Italian powerhouse AC Milan shocked everyone by defeating Real Madrid 3-1 in the Santiago Bernabeu. This was their second straight loss.
Additionally, a video of Real Madrid player Bellingham’s response to being substituted out early in the game has surfaced online, and it reveals a lot about his present sentiments with the team and manager Ancelotti.
He finished third in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings as a result of his exploits from the previous season, behind Manchester City’s Rodri and teammate Vinicius Junior, who scored the goal for Madrid on Tuesday.
However, despite his lackluster play this season, Ancelotti has stated that he is still satisfied with his star player’s performance and is not concerned about him.
We’re happy with his work, and I’m really happy,” he stated prior to Madrid’s most recent Champions League encounter against Borussia Dortmund. He puts in a lot of labor, is constantly on the go, competes, fights, and makes sacrifices.
“It’s true he hasn’t scored the goals he scored last year, but the surprise isn’t this year, the surprise was last year, when he scored lots of goals which nobody expected and helped us a lot.”
