Coach Hansi Flick wants to strengthen Barcelona’s midfield and his number one priority target is Bayern ‘favourite’ Joshua Kimmich😍😍

Joshua Kimmich’s deal with Bayern Munich ends on June 30, 2020. Negotiations between the two sides have not progressed so far, but Bild reports that Kimmich’s main goal is to stay at the Allianz Arena.

Hansi Flick is keeping a close eye on Kimmich-Bayern’s situation at Barcelona at the same time. Hansi Flick knows a lot about his former player’s football skills because he taught Bayern Munich and the German national team. It’s no surprise that Kimmich is at the top of Flick’s list of players he wants to bring to Barcelona to improve their middle.

Barcelona has been looking for a top defensive midfielder since Sergio Busquets left in 2023. The Catalan club has to leave this important post open, though, because they are having trouble with money and the league has strict spending limits. It would be great for Barcelona if they could get Kimmich for “0 dong” in the summer of 2025.

If Kimmich were a free agent, it would be easy to say that Barcelona should sign him, but do they really need him? A player with a similar style is Marc Casado, who has been an important part of the team since the beginning of the season. Also, the Catalans already have a lot of choices in central midfield, with Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Pedri, and Marc Bernal, though the first two are hurt right now and can’t play. They also have some exciting possibilities from La Masia, like Pau Prim.

If Barcelona can’t pay its bills next summer, the club won’t be able to spend as much as it wants. The fact that Barcelona still needs to cut their wage bill is one reason why they have trouble “reaching” the standards of a star player like Kimmich.

In the end, we still don’t know how Barcelona will handle the summer transfer window of 2025. The sporting director, Deco, is making a short list right now, and it will definitely include people whose contracts are up soon, like Kimmich. It is up to Flick and Kimmich to get back together, but it is not up to the German teacher.
