Ruben Amorim, the new head coach of Manchester United, wants to use a three-man defense. The team needs better back-line players for this plan to work.
Victor Lindelof keeps getting hurt, and his deal is up in 2025. Harry Maguire is in the same situation, and Jonny Evans is not the best choice for the future.
It looks like only Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez will stay, and it’s clear that the team needs to get better at defense.
Jules Kounde has been having a great season for Barcelona, and according to F365, Amorim has told the Red Devils to look at the Frenchman.
Interest in Kounde
This season, the 26-year-old has played 17 times and scored one goal while setting up four others. Hansi Flick has mostly used him as a right full-back, but the Frenchman would rather play in the middle of the defense.
This will be very helpful for Amorim, and the 20-time English league winners are planning to make an offer of €65 million for the former Sevilla star in January.
Back when Xavi was in charge, the Catalan giants were willing to trade for Kounde. But Flick has told the club not to let go of the France international.
“Manchester United want to sign a star player from Barcelona who has been one of the best players this season so far.” It’s impossible to find the right word to describe Jules Koundé’s acts.
“Thank goodness Hans-Dieter Flick came in for Xavi Hernández; it made a huge difference in his situation, and he was able to get back to being his best.”
Move not likely: “Something that made him one of Rubén Amorim’s first requests as soon as he got to Old Trafford was to improve the separation between the wings.”
“So the English entity has already planned its first offensive, which would cost 65 million euros, which is a lot of money.”
Barça wants anyone who wants to hire him to pay his full €1 billion release clause, which is not likely to be met. Because of this, Kounde will only leave if Barcelona wants him to.
It makes a lot of sense to get a defender who can play a lot of different positions. It will be interesting to see how INEOS handles the market and how they work with the new Portuguese coach.
