Leandro Trossard is having a good season at Arsenal FC right now. Racing Genk was where the Red Devils had their biggest win in Belgium. Yesterday, he played football. Today, he starts the second Belgian Red Court in the Limburg region with mayor Wim Dries.
The KBVB hopes that these public football fields will bring people of all ages together through football. They also hope that these fields will make football easier for more people to play and help bring people in Genk together.
From 2022 on, KBVB has been turning old football fields into modern, small football churches. It gets help to do this from Proximus, Adidas, and people who play the National Lottery. The city of Genk currently holds it, following Lier, Hasselt, Sint-Niklaas, Lokeren, and Waregem. The Red Court was given to Hobbyland. And that’s not the end of the story. There will be forty Red Courts built over the next few years.
Leandro Trossard, who used to be the captain of Racing Genk, and the Red Devils will be Genk’s representatives. In 120 games for Racing Genk, Trossard played and helped the team win the 2019 title. It was official today that the Genk Red Court was open. Trossard kicked a ball with Mayor Wim Dries and the young people of Genk.
When it comes to sports, I owe Genk a lot. I had a great time with both the first team and the youth team. People in Genk still remember me, even though I’ve been playing abroad for a while. They were always very friendly to me. There’s something nice about being able to repay the place that has been so kind to me.
