Riccardo Calafiori has been honored with a spot in the Serie A Team of the Year at the Gran Gala del Calcio, Italy’s equivalent of the PFA Awards.

The Italian international earned this nomination due to his impressive performances for Bologna last season, where he played a key role in helping the team secure fifth place in the table and a spot in the Champions League. Bologna lost only six matches throughout the campaign and conceded the third-fewest goals in the division.

Calafiori’s standout performances led to his selection for the Azzurri in the lead-up to Euro 2024, where he made two appearances during the tournament before transferring to north London in the summer. His breakout year undoubtedly caught the attention of his peers, who voted him into the annual dream team from Serie A’s top division.
