PLAY DUO: Nikola Jokić, Russell Westbrook Make Unique NBA History As Nuggets Teammates

Nikola Jokić and Russell Westbrook are continuing to make NBA history as teammates. In the Denver Nuggets’ 124-105 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, both stars achieved triple-doubles, marking the second time this season they’ve done so in the same game. The pair first accomplished this feat on December 30 against the Utah Jazz.

On Friday, Jokić delivered a masterful performance with 35 points, 15 assists, and 12 rebounds, while Westbrook added 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Their combined effort also marked the first instance in NBA history where two teammates recorded 25-point triple-doubles in the same regular-season game.

Nuggets head coach Michael Malone praised their achievement, saying, “You’re watching history, folks. This is the History Channel.”

Westbrook, the NBA’s all-time triple-double leader with 202, and Jokić, third all-time with 145, continue to cement their legacies. Jokić, a three-time MVP, is 37 triple-doubles away from passing Oscar Robertson, which would place him and Westbrook in the top two all-time spots.

The Nuggets (22-15) will next face the Mavericks (22-16) in Dallas on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
