One of the unique features of the Denver Nuggets’ 2022–2023 championship rings is one of the hidden embellishments.
Prior to the Nuggets’ 119-107 season-opening victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, the team held an NBA ring ceremony.
After defeating the Miami Heat, Denver was able to celebrate winning its first NBA championship.
To the joy of the Nuggets’ home crowd, Nikola Jokic and each player got their rings individually.
Jason Abrasheben, the CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills, created the rings.
Displaying the Nuggets’ historic season in exquisite detail was a top aim for Abrasheben.
As he stated on Nuggets.com, “the face of the ring, for the first time in ring history, is interchangeable.”
Abrasheben clarified: “This means that a simple lever switch can change the hue.
“Our lever spans the years 1967, when the team was founded, until 2023, when the championship year occurs.
“Once you switch it over, it goes from blue sapphires to white diamonds on the face of the ring.”
The last name, jersey number, and team motto “bring it on” are all displayed on the right side of each ring.
The words “World Champions” are shown on the left, encircled by a basketball and an outline of the Denver skyline.
A diamond retractable box on the ring’s right side is another hidden function.
The championship flag, which is displayed on the interior, is suspended from the rafters of the Ball Arena.
The ring also represents important numbers from the Nuggets’ run.
According to ESPN, it has 16 carats of diamonds, rubies, and blue sapphires, which is the same number of the Nuggets’ colors and postseason wins needed to win the NBA championship.
The Larry O’Brien trophy behind the words “NUGGETS” is displayed on the ring’s face.
Finally, the top of the ring is encircled by 89 red rubies, which is the exact amount of points the Nuggets gave up to defeat the Heat in Game 5 of their NBA Finals series.
Jokic, the NBA Finals MVP from the previous season, concluded with a triple-double against the Lakers, who the Nuggets swept in the 2022–2023 Western Conference Finals.
His final stats were 11 assists, 13 rebounds, and 29 points.
