The Serbian basketball star Nikola Jokić recently visited a “cult place” in Sombor before traveling to the US to get ready for the Denver Nuggets’ next NBA season. Two female students from the “Dr. Ružica Rip” High School of Medicine saw him at a nearby bakery while he was there. Despite their excitement, the students were too shy to request a picture.
When we saw him, we were ecstatic. Since he is taller than everybody else in Sombor, it was impossible to miss him. Of course, we all knew him. One student told Večernje Novosti, “He bought yogurt, pretzels, and burek.”
Jokić ate burek, his favorite childhood snack, before his departure to Denver. Jokić focused more on his nutrition and fitness after his old coach, Dejan Milojević, had warned him about eating “heavy food.”
Journey of Fitness and Nutrition
Jokić has employed a fitness trainer and nutritionist as part of his diligent efforts to change his body. Because of his commitment to maintaining his physical fitness, he has become one of the fittest NBA players despite being one of the heaviest ones.
Up until a few years ago, I was overweight. I ate everything with pleasure and didn’t turn anything down. I ate everything, including soup with a bit extra fat and cakes. Before every game, I eat something unhealthy, like popcorn and a piece of pizza,” he said.
Jokić said that the previous summer was exceptionally memorable for him, especially when the Serbian national team won a bronze medal in Paris.
“I enjoyed representing Serbia, my hometown, my family, and playing with my friends; participating in the Olympic Games did not take anything away from me. It’s a different kind of competition, therefore anybody who can should take part,” he underlined.
In addition to his passion for basketball, his voyage demonstrates his dedication to striking a balance between life’s pleasures and the duties of professional sports.
